Elaine Nyberg-Bergeson, of Dawson, died Monday, September 9, 2013 at the Johnson Memorial Home at the age of 81.
Funeral services will be Saturday, September 14, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church. Pastor Kendall Stelter will officiate and interment will be at Grace Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday, from 6-8:00 PM at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson with a prayer service at 7:30. There will be visitation at the church for one hour before services on Saturday.
Elaine Marlys (Greseth) Nyberg Bergeson was born February 17, 1932 in Lac qui Parle County the daughter of Elmer and Olga (Arneson) Greseth. She graduated from Dawson High School in 1950. Elaine was united in marriage with Irving Nyberg August 14, 1952 in Dawson. They lived in Oklahoma while Irving was in the Air Force. They moved to Minneapolis in 1955 where he operated Plaza Cleaners and Launderers in Fridley, New Brighton, Circle Pines, and Maple Grove. Elaine worked as the company bookkeeper and also a personal loan officer in the banking industry retiring from Marquette Bank. They moved back to Dawson in the early 1990's after retirement. Irving died December 7, 2000. She was united in marriage with Jerome Bergeson May 29, 2004. She enjoyed watching the MN Vikings, shopping, the MN State Fair, and having daily coffee with the girls. She especially enjoyed attending Dawson basketball and football games. Her other joy was spending time in the Cities with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry; two children: Delaine (Randy) Tuomi of Ham Lake, MN and Doug (Beth) Nyberg of Rogers, MN; four grandchildren: Nick Tuomi, Ben (Lesley) Tuomi, Danielle (Jon) Ulness, and Ryan Nyberg; four great-grandchildren: Addyson, Annyka, Cameron, and Kaleb; three stepchildren: Cathy (Jim) Michels of Dawson, MN, Bruce (Diane) Bergeson of Dawson, MN, and Connie (Terry) Anderson of Dawson, MN; nine step-grandchildren; fourteen step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Karen (Tom) Erickson of Dawson, MN; two brothers: Gailen (Arlene) Greseth of Lady Lake, FL and Orlyn (Linda) Greseth of Alexandria, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Irving; and a brother, Eugene Greseth.
