Eldo Thompson, of rural Montevideo, died on Monday, February 4, 2008 as the result of an automobile accident at the age of 66.
Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 2:00 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with Rev. Theresa Kraft officiating.
Eldo Vernon Thompson was born on April 27, 1941 to Elmer and Charlotte (Siverhus) Thompson on the family farm in Lac Qui Parle County. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church of Baxter. He attended rural school in District 8 and Dawson Public Schools, graduating from Dawson High School in 1958. He was a member of Dawson National Guard for several years. In 1964 he was united in marriage to Judy Halverson and four children were born to this union. He was employed at Chandler Industries, owned and operated Precision Machining in Boyd for several years and was employed at Friendship Homes until an occupational injury ended his employment. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, master mechanic, wood worker, enjoyed gardening and playing cards with his many friends.
He is survived by four children: Gregory Thompson of Sioux Falls, SD; Lorie Fitcher of Montevideo; David Thompson of Dawson, MN and Sherri Gonzales of Canyon Lake, TX; 11 grandchildren: April Thompson, Shane and Jenifer Fitcher, Kylie John, Brittany and Cory Brisco, Mark, Kelsey, Cole, Kyle and Charles Thompson; a sister, Evon (James) Roe of Montevideo; as well as by nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Russell.
