Eldred Nicholas Laux Jr., born on August 18, 1935, in Redwood Falls, Minnesota, to Eldred Sr. and Mageline (Hesse) Laux. He attended country school near Redwood Falls and began working for local farmers at a young age. The family moved to Boyd. Eldred began a long and dedicated career at AMPI, where he worked for over 35 years.
On August 16, 1966, Eldred married the love of his life, Rita Jane Roder, at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Clarkfield, MN. Together, they raised two children and built a life full of love and community.
A devoted member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Eldred lived his faith through service. He was a faithful member of the Knights of Columbus and generously volunteered at numerous church events—especially known for his role in grilling pork chops at the fall festival.
Eldred found great joy in lending a hand to others, often helping friends and neighbors with lawn care and gardening. On Mondays he would walk to the bowling alley in Granite to watch his son, David bowl. He loved playing bingo, chatting with friends, and never missed coffee time with his cherished group—those gatherings often leading to lifelong friendships. Family and friends will always remember Eldred as a happy-go-lucky man, full of warmth, kindness, and a smile that could light up any room.
Eldred is survived by his wife, Rita; son David, Willmar, MN; sister Monica (Larry) Oseid, St. Cloud, MN; brother-in-law, Myron Nehring; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary; siblings: Carol Nehring, Joe (Sharon) Laux, and Marcie (Bob) McKigney; and niece, Donna Freeman.
