Eldred Juel Sachariason

Eldred J.Sachariason, of Montevideo, died on Friday, January 9, 1998 at his home in Montevideo at the age of 83.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, January 13, 1998 at 1:30 PM at Saron Lutheran Church in rural Montevideo with Rev. Steve Rheingans officiating.  Committal services will be on Wednesday, January 14, 1998 at 11:30 A.M. at Sunset Memorial Park in Minneapolis.

Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening, with the family from 6 - 8 PM and with a prayer service at 7 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo, as well as an hour prior to services at the church.

Eldred Juel Sachariason was born on December 23, 1914 in Chippewa County, MN to Edward and Josephine (Bangsund) Sachariason.  He was baptized and confirmed at Saron Lutheran Church.  He attended rural schools in District #74 and graduated from Montevideo High School 1933.  He attended Dunwoody Institute for a year and then worked for the Great Northern Railroad for about 40 years.  He lived in Minneapolis until retiring from the railroad and moving to Montevideo in 1976.  He was a member of Saron Lutheran Church and the Masonic Lodge.

He is survived by a daughter, Jean Soderstrom and her husband Richard of Ramsey, MN; one son, Thomas Sachariason of Denver, CO; 7 grandchildren: Cindy (Dave) Iverson, Todd, Jeffrey, and Scott Soderstrom, Cheri (Brandon) Almich, and Andrew and Molly Sachariason; 4 great-grandchildren: Heather, Lacey and Coleman Iverson and Maxwell Almich; one brother, Orton Sachariason (Verona) of Montevideo, MN; two sisters: Arlys Ann (Grant) Christianson of Blomkest, MN and Myra (Bert) Scheltens of Clara City, MN; and one sister-in-law, Shirley Sachariason of Montevideo, MN.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Iva in 1959; one brother, DeWayne Sachariason, and one sister,  Sherlet Mae McKinney.
