Elizabeth "Liz" (Vonbank) Deblieck

May 20, 1965 — January 4, 2019

Elizabeth “Liz” DeBlieck, Granite Falls, passed away on January 4, 2019 at the age of 53.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 10:30 AM at Granite Falls Lutheran Church with Father Paul Timmerman officiating. Burial will follow the service at St. Andrew Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, January 11th from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home of Granite Falls, with a prayer service at 7:00PM.  Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Elizabeth Jane (VonBank) DeBlieck was born May 20th,1965 in Emmetsburg, Iowa to Cletus and Shirley (Buesgens) VonBank. Liz was baptized and confirmed in Emmetsburg. In 1980, her family moved to Marshall, MN; where she graduated from Marshall Senior High School. Liz continued her education at Willmar Community College graduating with her Associate in Arts Degree in Chemical Dependency Counseling. On September 27th, 1986, Liz was united in marriage to Wayne DeBlieck at St. Mary’s Chapel in Marshall. Liz & Wayne lived in Marshall, Tracy, and Wood Lake. They moved to Granite Falls in 1992 where they raised their children, Jennifer and Logan. Liz was a supportive wife, mother, daughter, and sister who put her family and their lives first. She was employed at Project Turnabout, Lyon County Group Home, Chippewa County 6W Community Corrections, and finally Bert Raney Elementary School. She was a committed employee and worked as an administrative assistant until one month before her passing. Liz enjoyed spending time with family and friends, shopping, reading, and being a part of a monthly book club. She took joy in the outdoors by working with her flowers and spending days on the lake. Liz was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church.

Liz’s contagious smile, friendship, and positive attitude were inspirational to many along this journey. She was honored by the outpour of support from Team Liz. Liz entered heaven on January 04, 2019, peacefully at her home surrounded by family after a long and hard fought battle with cancer.

Survivors include her husband, Wayne; daughter, Jennifer (and Mike) Thull; son, Logan DeBlieck (and Hailey Enstad) all of Granite Falls, MN; her first grandchild is expected April 2019; father, Cletus VonBank of Marshall, MN; father in-law, Norman DeBlieck of Tracy, MN; sisters: Kim (and Bob) Wilson of New Richmond, WI and Angie (and Jim) Vaughan of Mallard, IA; brothers-in-law: Paul (and Mary) DeBlieck of Redwood Falls, MN, Keith (and Diane) DeBlieck of Dalton, MN, Bruce (and Phillis) DeBlieck of Willmar, MN and Lee (and Sharon) DeBlieck of Marshall, MN; sisters-in-law: Marian (and Curtis) Feste of Balaton, MN and Conni (and Adam) Lucero of Las Cruces, NM; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Shirley VonBank and mother in-law, Edith DeBlieck.

Our family would like to extend a deep appreciation and thanks to the teams at Granite Falls Health, Mayo Clinic, and Prairie Home Hospice for the excellent care they provided Liz over the past three years. Also, to Father Matt Wiering for his guidance in faith.
