Ella Gniffke, of Montevideo, died on Thursday March 28, 1996 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 90.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday April 3, 1996 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Lois Knutson and Rev. Warren Broughton officiating. Burial will be in the Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Cottonwood, MN.
Visitation will be after 2 PM on Tuesday with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Ella (Norman) Gniffke was born on October 8, 1905 in Sparta Township of Chippewa Co., MN to Ole and Bertha (Anderson) Norman. She was baptized and confirmed at Saron Lutheran Church and attended rural schools. On June 18, 1933 She was united in marriage to Edward Gniffke of Cottonwood, MN at the Saron Lutheran Church. They lived in Cottonwood until 1946, when they moved to Montevideo. She was currently a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and Rhoda Circle, Homemakers, and Birthday Club. She was very active until her eyes began failing in 1977. Her life was lived for her church, her family, and doing things for others.
She is survived by a son - Frank Gniffke and his wife Keiko of Hong Kong; a granddaughter - Erika Gniffke and a grandson - Edward Gniffke; as well as by numerous nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Edward in 1990, an infant son, by brothers - Louis, Bennie, Rowland, and Ole Norman, by an infant brother - Chester Norman, and by sisters - Almeda Strobeen, Ettie Berven, and Agnes Charnstrom
