Ella Sophia (Erickson) Rolighed was born August 8, 1903 at Goodhue County, MN the daughter of Thomas and Gina (Klave) Erickson. She grew to adulthood in the Appleton area and was baptized and confirmed at Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church. Ella attended Normal School in Madison and also for a short time at Morris. She was united in marriage with Arthur Rolighed November 4, 1925 at Madison. The farmed near Appleton and later moved to a farm south of Dawson.
Ella died on Wednesday, May 6, 1998, at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 94.
She is survived by five sons: Alton Rolighed and his wife Earlene of Clarkfield, MN, Wendell Rolighed and his wife Floyetta of Bettendorf, IA, Wesley Rolighed and his wife Sarah of Hopkins, MN, Douglas Rolighed and his wife Mary Kay of Apple Valley, MN, and Roger Rolighed and his wife Gretchen of Bloomington, MN; two daughters: Norma Erickson and her husband Keith of Burnsville, MN and Shirley Kuhlmann and her husband Robert of Boyd, MN; 17 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Clara Lee of Clara City, MN.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Arthur in 1970; two sons: Sherwood Arthur and Sherwood Arthur; two grandson: Jerald and James Erickson; two brothers: Edward and Alfred Erickson; and three sisters: Ida Hastad, Tillie Johnson, and Hannah Gunderson.
