Ellen Anderson, of New Ulm, died onThursday April 27, 1995 at the Highland Manor in New Ulm, Mn. at the age of 73. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday May 2, 1995 at 11:00 A.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with Rev. Wayne Mensing officiating. Burial will be in the Our Saviours Lutheran Cemetery of Baxter. Visitation will be prior to services at the Anderson Funeral Home.
Ellen Mabel Anderson was born on April 2, 1922 in Lac Qui Parle Co., Minnesota to Elmer and Minnie Anderson. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter. She attended schools in Montevideo MN, Louisburg,MN, and graduated from Appleton High School. Ellen served in the US Navy during WWII and was united in marriage to Clifford South in March, 1944. She lived in Washington DC for several years and in Park Rapids, Mn. for a number of years before moving to the Fargo-Moorhead area in 1959. She was employed at the Park Laundry, Fargo Laundry, and Bethany Homes in Fargo. She lived in the Fargo-Moorhead area until moving to New Ulm, Mn. in 1990. She was currently a resident of the Highland Manor in New Ulm.
Ellen is survived by sons - James South of Long Beach,CA; Sonny South of Casselton,ND; and Robert South of Wade,NC; by a daughter - Wanda Clark of Garden City,KS; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; by brothers - Clarence Anderson of Racine, WI; and Marvin Anderson of Grove City, MN; and by sisters - Delores Whitney, Evangeline LeClerc, and Myrtle Kiplinger,all of CA.
She was preceded in death by her parents,by her husband Clifford South; and by sons - Earl and Richard South.
