Ellen Colestock, formerly of Montevideo, died on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at Grace Point Crossing in Cambridge, MN at the age of 93. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, March 9, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo with Rev. Gwen Bohlke officiating. Interment will be in the Maynard Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening with the family present from 4 - 6 P.M. and with a prayer service at 5:30 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Ellen Grace (Pearson) Colestock was born on September 29, 1915 in Hecla, SD to Robert and Ruth (Storts) Pearson. She grew up in Hecla and graduated from Hecla High School in 1934.On June 5, 1937 she was united in marriage to Norman Colestock in Hecla. She followed her husband in his teaching career from Miller, SD, Lake Preston, SD and White, SD before moving to Maynard, MN in 1946. While in Maynard she was an active member of Maynard Presbyterian Church and active in the Ladies Aid. She worked for a short time at Budger's Cafe and provided day care for Ron and Bonnie Alstad, thoroughly loving the little children. She loved to make cakes and popcorn balls for the Maynard band members on various holidays, to cut hair and give perms to friends and sew clothes for her children. Following Norman's retirement from teaching, they moved to Montevideo in 1985. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the Chippewa Co Historical Society and the Montevideo Golf Club. Following Norman's death in 2001, she moved to Cambridge, MN and was currently residing at Grace Point Crossing.. She is survived by four children: Shirlee Kingdon and her husband Robert of Roseville, MN; Donna Erlandson and her husband John of Cambridge, MN; Barbara Antonson and her husband Michael of Anoka, MN; Kay Bill of Vadnais Heights, MN; a son-in-law, Greg Quillin of Vista, CA; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great, great-grandchildren; two brothers: Robert Pearson of Plymouth, NE and Roy Pearson of Sacramento, CA, as well as by a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Norman in 2001;a daughter, Nancy Lee Quillin in 2006; a son, William Norman Colestock, Jr in infancy and two sisters: Lute Daly and Margaret Ritter.
