Clara City

Ellis Anderson, of rural Clara City, died on June 4, 2007 as a result of a farm accident at the age of 84.  Memorial services will be conducted on Friday, June 8, 2007 at 1:30 PM at Buffalo Lake Lutheran Church of rural DeGraff with Rev. Carlton Nelson officiating.  Interment will be in the Buffalo Lake Mission Covenant Cemetery.  Visitation with reviewal will be on Thursday from 4 - 6 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.  There will be no reviewal at the church.  Anderson Funeral Home of Montevideo is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Ellis Gordon Anderson was born on April 3, 1923 near Newell, SD to William and Amy (Johnson) Anderson.  He was baptized July 23, 1924 at First Congregational Church in Newell and attended school there until his family moved to the rural Clara City area in 1939.  He was confirmed June 7, 1940 at the Buffalo Lake Covenant Church and graduated from Clara City High School in 1940.  He served in the U.S. Army during in 1946 and 1947, serving in occupied Japan.  On February 4, 1967, he was united in marriage to Ruth Hultquist at the Assembly of God Church in Redwood Falls, MN.  He was a lifelong farmer in Louriston Township.  He had been a member of the Buffalo Lake Mission Covenant Church, the Assembly of God and the Evangelical Free Churches in Willmar and most recently a member of Buffalo Lake Lutheran Church in rural DeGraff.  He was a member of the Farmers Union, Chippewa County ASCS Committee member, Chippewa County DFL party and secretary of the Buffalo Lake Mission Covenant Cemetery Association.  He enjoyed gardening, fishing, hunting and visiting relatives and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth of Montevideo and a son, Peter Anderson of rural Clara City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Wallace Anderson; and by a sister, Phyllis Swenson.
