Ellsworth Anderson, of Montevideo, died on Tuesday, June 5, 2007 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 89.  Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 9, 2007 at 1:30 P.M. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church with  Rev. Donald S. McKee officiating.  Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation will be held for one hour before the services at the church on Saturday.

Ellsworth Henry Anderson was born October 5, 1918 in Bancroft, IA, to Severin and Gertrude (Ehrandt) Anderson.  He was baptized in Humbolt, IA before his family moved to Chippewa County. He attended rural school in District 51 and was confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo by Rev. Mason.  Ellsworth worked at Fry Aircraft in South Omaha, NE during WWII before returning to the Montevideo area to be a farmer and a cattleman.  He also sold real estate later in life.  Ellsworth was an advocate for farmers, serving on the school board, Rosewood Town Board, Cattleman’s Association and Farm Bureau. He was united in marriage with Verna Norrgard September 9, 1961 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Minneapolis.  Ellsworth took pride in building his home and was a hard worker, a leader in his family, and cared for his parents.  He was a long-time member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church where he was a Sunday School teacher, on the church council, was an usher and a Bethel Bible Series teacher. He enjoyed woodworking, farming, traveling, and barbecuing.

He is survived by his wife, Verna; one brother, Robert Anderson of LaCrescenta, CA; one sister, Lorraine Anderson of Minneapolis, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; sisters: Marie Feldhake, Gladys Anderson, Marge Dorgan, Bernice Henning; Ardis Berscheid and May; and by brothers: Ray, Gerald and Richard Anderson
