Elna Hanson

Elna Hanson, of Montevideo, died January 7, 2019, at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 98.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 15, 2019 at 1:30 PM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  Pastor Marie Eckberg will officiate, and burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

Elna Louise Saterbak was born on July 25, 1920 in Big Bend to Carl and Palma (Mickelson) Saterbak.  She was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church.  Elna graduated from Milan High School in 1938.  She was united in marriage to Lowell Hanson on November 16, 1946 at Big Bend Lutheran Church.  Together they had two children.

Elna was a life long member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo where she taught Sunday school, and was part of the ladies aid.  She was a member of the American Legion Post #59 and VFW Post #380, and served on the Auxiliary. Elna was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge.  She worked in the AAA office for many years, and also at J.C. Penny.  Elna enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, and jigsaw puzzles.

Elna is survived by her daughters, Lorna (Gary) Boline of Sun City West, AZ and Penny (Kenneth) Josephs of New Hope, MN; six grandchildren, Scott (Linda) Boline, Stephanie (Charles) Boline-Hope, Cory (Tricia) Josephs, Ryan (Carrie) Josephs, Matthew Boline, and Jason (Sarah) Josephs; three great-grandchildren, McKayla Hope, Brianna Hope, and Lindsey Josephs; and a brother, Donald Saterbak.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Lowell; and three sisters Aagot Paulson, Melinda Ellingson, and Helen Quenemoen.
