Elroy Wilbert Macziewski

Elroy Macziewski, 76, of Montevideo died June 4, 1998 at the University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, WI.

Funeral services will be held Monday, June 8, 1998 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church.  Rev. Leo Dietemeyer will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Sunday, afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and at the church for one hour before services on Monday.   There will be a prayer service at the funeral home Sunday at 7:00 P.M.

Elroy Wilbert Macziewski was born October 27, 1921 in Chippewa County, MN the son of Gust and Julia (Pederson) Macziewski.  He attended school and grew to adulthood there.  Elroy served in the Marines from 1942 until his discharge in 1944.  He was united in marriage with Sally Olson November 18, 1945 at Jevnaker Lutheran Church.  They made their home on farms in Chippewa County.  Elroy farmed for many years and drove school bus for 35 years.  He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, a life member of the VFW, the American Legion, and the DAV.

He is survived by his wife, Sally; four children: Judy Gronewold and her husband Alvin of Montevideo, MN, Eugene Macziewski and his wife Mary of Fargo, ND, David Macziewski and his wife Sandy of Montevideo, MN, and Lonny Macziewski of Elk River, MN; eight grandchildren: Jeff and Brian Gronewold, Scott, Sara, and Stacy Macziewski, and Josh, Nathan, and Kelly Macziewski; two great-grandchildren: Brittany and Ashton Gronewold; one sister, Evelyn Eddy and her husband Jim of Montevideo, MN; one brother-in-law, Jim Thoma of Clara City, MN; two sisters-in-law: Petra of Montevideo, MN and Shirley of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers: Walter, Friebert, and one in infancy; and one sister, Gloria Thoma.
