Elsie Jenneke, of Montevideo, died on Friday, December 10, 1999 at the Chippewa Co - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 88.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, December 13, 1999 at 1:30 PM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Douglas Olson officiating. Interment will be in the Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening, with the family from 5 - 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Elsie Bertha (Eichhorst) Jenneke was born on December 9, 1911 in Downers Grove, IL to Louis and Mary (Hogrefe) Eichhorst. She was baptized in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Downers Grove and after moving to Chippewa Co. in 1918 was confirmed at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Montevideo. She attended rural schools and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1930. On April 9, 1949 she was united in marriage to Wilmer “Buck” Jenneke of Lester Prairie, MN at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church Chapel in Montevideo. She worked as a bookkeeper for Farmers Union Oil Co., Monte Chrysler Garage, Johnnie’s Supermarket and the Chippewa Co Treasurer’s office before retiring. She was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, it’s WELCA and Claudia Circle and was a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed doing fancy work and unique writing as well as thoroughly enjoying playing with her granddaughters. She also enjoyed summers at their lake home on Stuart Lake in Central Minnesota and 4 months each winter in Daytona Beach, FL.
She is survived by her husband - Wilmer “Buck” Jenneke of Montevideo; a daughter - Paula Connelly and her husband John of Chanhassen, MN; granddaughters - Heather and Amber Connelly; sisters - Alice Lanes and her husband Art and Louise Swenson and her husband Len - both of Montevideo; brothers - Ervin Eichhorst and his wife Nora of Montevideo and Louis Eichhorst and his wife Marion of Spicer, MN; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two infant brothers.
