Elsie Gertrude (Hoyer) Schwarzburg

Elsie Schwarzburg, of Montevideo, died on Sunday November 3, 1996 at the Chippewa Co - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 93.

Memorial services will be conducted on Friday November 8, 1996 at 2:00 PM at Brookside Manor with Rev. officiating.  Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Elsie Gertrude (Hoyer) Schwarzburg was born on March 11, 1903 in Konneigburg, Germany to August and Elsie (Bothuneg) Hoyer.  She  was baptized on June 12, 1903 and confirmed on June 25, 1917 as she grew up in Germany. She attended school in Germany and came to the United States in 1928, where she lived as a companion to a lady in New York City for 4 years.  In December, 1932 she came to visit an aunt in Benson, MN, where she met Rudolph Schwarzburg. They were united in marriage on June 25, 1933 at Emanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City.  They farmed in Havelock Township of Chippewa Co. for 41 years before retiring and moving into Montevideo in 1974.  She moved to Brookside Manor in January of 1995 and had recently become a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home.  She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo and made many baby caps for the Hospital Auxiliary.

Elsie is survived by a niece - Elsie Wichmann-Borchert of Bremen, Germany.
