Elvina Norby

Elvina Norby, of Milan, died on Monday, January 16, 2012 at the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital at the age of 79. Memorial services will be conducted on Saturday, January 28, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with Rev. Cathie Rhodes officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 P.M. and with a prayer service at 6:30 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Elvina Omi (Pederson) Norby was born on June 3, 1932 at the Chippewa Co - Montevideo Hospital to Ole & Mina (Falla) Pederson. She grew up on a farm 11 miles east of Montevideo. She attended country school and then Montevideo High School, where she graduated in May of 1951. On March 14, 1953 she was united in marriage to Floyd Norby at Jevnaker Lutheran Church of rural Montevideo. They made their home and farmed near Milan. She worked as a secretary at Archer-Daniels, Stennes Law Firm, and at the Lac qui Parle Game Refuge over the years. In August of 2011, they moved from their farm to a house in Milan. She was a member of Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan. She loved spending time with her family and also took a special interest in feeding and watching the many birds in their yard. She is survived by her husband, Floyd of Milan; a son, Greg (and Sherry) Norby of Milan, MN and daughter, Gwen (and Dave) Olson of Montevideo, MN; grandchildren: Jason and (Chanda) Norby of Milan, MN, Matt (and Jenna ) Norby of Milan, MN, Lisa (and Bill) Holker of Clearwater, MN, Michael Haff of Fargo, ND, Jenay Olson (and Allie Carter) of Chicago, IL, Tera Olson of Montevideo, Derek (and Heather) Olson of Brainerd, MN and Devin Olson ( & special friend Ariel) of Dawson, MN; great- grandchildren: Cale, Jessa & Ty Norby, and Aidan, Connor, Morgan, Jaelyn & Trayton Olson; a sister, Rudella Haugen of Montevideo, a brother-in-law, sisters-in-law as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Ole & Mina (Falla) Pederson; three grandchildren: Daniel, Lindsey Jo, & Andrew Haff. six brothers: Arvid, Stanley, Milford, Raymond, Vernon, & Milo Pederson; and three sisters: Evelyn and Oma Pederson & Charlotte Larson.
