Elvira Wik, of Montevideo, died on Sunday, December 31, 2000 in South Haven, MN at the age of 92.
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, January 4, 2001 at 1:30 PM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo, MN with Rev. Michael Briggs officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.
Elvira Virginia (Mjunes) Wik was born on June 8, 1908 in Montevideo, MN to Ole and Nekolena (Nelson) Mjunes. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1927. She worked at a bakery in Minneapolis, MN for several years before being united in marriage to Oliver Wik on October 30, 1935 in Milbank, SD. They lived in Marshall, MN from 1936 - 1955 and in Windom, MN from 1955 - 1971 before retiring and moving to Starbuck, MN in 1971. Following her husband’s death in 1982, she returned to Montevideo. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo and the Esther Circle and was a member of a Birthday Club in Marshall, MN. She was an astute card player, loved to bake and loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by one daughter, Vonne Cleveland and her husband Richard of South Haven, MN; three grandchildren: Michael and Mark Cleveland of Bloomington, MN and Michelle Weckman and her husband Randy of Shakopee, MN; three great-grandchildren: Jackie, Jeff and Jake Weckman; one sister, Minerva Wik of Montevideo, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Oliver in 1982, one brother, Hiram Mjunes; two sisters: Lenora Meyer and Genevieve Torgerson; as well as by a sister, Mabel and brother, Norman in infancy.
