Elwood Johnson, of Montevideo, died on January 22, 1998 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 72.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, January 24, 1998 at 1:30 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with Rev. Eric Finsand officiating. . Burial was in the Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church Cemetery.
Elwood Jerome Johnson was born on March 30, 1925 in Madison, MN to Joseph and Edna (Holtan) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed at Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church and graduated from Appleton High School in 1943. He was united in marriage to Delores Johnson on March 2, 1946, and to, this union were born 3 children. He farmed in Cerro Gordo Township and operated a truck line until he was seriously injured in a truck accident on Sept. 4, 1969. He has been a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home for a number of years. He was a member of Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church and was a member of the Trailriders Saddle Club.
He is survived by sons - Jerome Johnson of Dallas, TX and Todd Johnson of Alexandria, MN; grandchildren - Debra Johnson Lechner; Jeni Johnson and Zachary Johnson; and great grandchildren - Joey Lechner; Jay Lechner and Jacob Lechner.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son - Eldon Scott Johnson; a brother - Murlyn Johnson and by a sister - Marie Johnson Skallerud
