Emily A. (Miller) Cox

February 5, 1929 — September 23, 2012

Emily A. Cox, of Fairmont, MN, died on Sunday, September 23, 2012, at the Parker Oaks Nursing Home in Winnebago, MN at ther age of 83. Memorial Services will be conducted on Saturday, October 6, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo, MN. Interment will be in Terrace Lawn Memorial Gardens in Montevideo, MN. Visitation will be one hour prior to the time of services at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Emily Annabell (Miller) Cox was born on February 5, 1929, in Lakefield, MN, to Albert and Matilda (Bisping) Miller. As a young girl, Emily moved with her family to the Dawson, MN, area where she attended school.

On June 10, 1955, Emily was united in marriage to Clarence Cox in Quimby, IA. Together the couple made their home on a farm near Frost, MN, where they were blessed with three children, Debra, Randy and Gordon.

In 1977, Emily moved to Blue Earth, MN, where she worked at Gerrings Mobile Homes until they closed in 1982. She then began working as a Cook at the Blue Earth Hospital retiring in 1998.

In her younger years, Emily loved to draw. She enjoyed playing records and listening to music, especially country music. In her later years she would even dance to the music in her wheel chair. She had many fond memories as a child of life on the farm; such as playing baseball, helping to plow, being around the horses, as well as many other tasks that she helped with. Her zest for life will be greatly missed by those that loved her and called her friend.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Debra K. Martin and her husband, Ronald of Fairmont, MN; two sons, Randy Cox and his wife, Darlene of Albert Lea, MN, and Gordon Cox of Fairmont, MN; three brothers, Bud (Bea) Miller of Belgrade, MN, Eldon (Cecelia) Miller of Andover, MN, and Floyd (Kit) Miller of Strathmore, CA; two sisters, Ardella (Glenn) Sumner of Boyd, MN, and Phyllis Key of Midland, TX; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Emily is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Matilda Miller; two sisters, Mildred Admire and Betty Koenen; a brother, George Miller; two brothers-in-law, Kenneth Key and Frank Admire; and a sister-in-law, Kathy Miller.
