Erling "Jeep" Wold was born on January 31, 1918, in Dawson, MN, to Adolph and Ragna (Olson) Wold. He was baptized on March 14, 1918, and confirmed on May 21, 1933, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Dawson. As a young man he worked at the Dawson Creamery and Johnson's Hatchery and then joined the Army National Guard in Dawson. He entered active duty on February 10, 1941, and served overseas for over 3 years. He was honorably discharged on June 29, 1945, and moved back to Dawson. He met Lois Sukert in February of 1946, and they were married September 7, 1947, at the Presbyterian Church in Dawson.
In the spring of 1948, Jeep started to work full time for the city of Dawson, and did so as Water Superintendent, until he retired in 1980.
Jeep entered the Johnson Memorial Home in January of 1995, and remained there until his death at the Johnson Memorial Hospital on December 28, 1998, at the age of 80 years, 10 months, and 27 days.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; sisters-in-law: Shirley Wold of the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson and Leona Wold of Minneapolis; nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
Jeep was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Einar, Ralph, and Arnold Wold; and sisters: Margaret Sorby, Selma Larson, Evelyn Ripley, Agnes Sorby, and Sylvia Hauge.
He was a wonderful husband, loved children, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and was a charter member of the V.F.W.
