Ernest B. Johnson, of Montevideo, died on Thursday, October 7, 1999 at the Our Lady of Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls, MN at the age of 87.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 9, 1999 at 1:30 PM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Warren Broughton officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Ernest Bertram Johnson was born on October 23, 1911 in Montevideo, MN to Eldor and Bertine(Hanson) Johnson. He was baptized and confirmed at Mandt Lutheran Church and attended rural school. On August 19, 1936 he was united in marriage to Alice Svea at the Our Savior's Lutheran Parsonage. He farmed in Mandt township until moving into Montevideo in the EARLY 1970'S. He worked at Gene’s 66 station for about six years before retiring because of health concerns. He was a resident at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo for about 5 years, lived in Willmar, MN for a short time and has been a resident of Our Lady of Angels Care Center in Cannon Falls, MN for the past 3 ½ years. He had been a member of both Jevnaker and Mandt Lutheran Churches and was currently a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. He served on the District 64 School Board, Mandt Town Board, Equity Elevator Board, Credit Union Board and was a Mandt Township Assessor.
He is survived by his wife - Alice of Montevideo; by sons - Arnold Johnson of Lakeville, MN and Dennis Johnson and his wife Juliet of Hastings, MN; by a daughter - Sherry Larson and her husband Fran of Negaunee, MI; 8 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and by a sister - Cora Reynolds of Montevideo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter-in-law, Janice Johnson; a brother - Harlan Johnson and by sisters - Hilda Johnson, Esther Webb and Ruth Johnson.
