Ernest Simpson, 91, of Canoga Park, CA died January 15, 2000 at Berkeley Valley Convalescent Hospital in Van Neys, CA.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 20, 2000 at 2:00 P.M. at Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo.  Rev. Lois D. Knutson will officiate and interment will be at Zion Lutheran Cemetery, rural Watson.

Visitation will be held for 2 hours before the services on Thursday.

Ernest Casper Simpson was born March 18, 1908 in Tunsburg Township, Chippewa County, MN the son of Samuel and Anna (Vellekson) Simpson.  He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church by Rev. Strom.  Ernest attended District 28 school and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1927.  He enlisted in the Air Force in November of 1941 before Pearl Harbor and served until the end of WW II as a teletype operator in the Aleutian Islands.  Ernest was united in Marriage with Rosalie Avians in Chicago.  They later moved to California where he was self employed in the rug cleaning business.  He was always busy making and inventing things.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping.  Ernest loved his family and had planned to come to visit later this year.

He is survived by his wife, Rosalie in CA; three sisters: Lila Nelson of Montevideo, MN, Ruby Anderson of Hector, MN, and Frances Gilsrud of Montevideo, MN; three nieces: Evelyn Duga, Kerrine Thompson, and Frances Zubrod; and four nephews: Roger Nelson, Albie Gilsrud, Robert Gilsrud, and George Emerick.

Preceding him in death were his parents and two sisters: Hazel Addison and Effie Lapaglea.
