Ernest Solseth of Watson died Monday, April 29, 2013 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 91.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 3, 2013 at 2:00 PM at Zion Lutheran Church of rural Watson. Rev. Larry Olson will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Thursday at the Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo from 5-7:00 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.
Ernest Maland Solseth was born June 19, 1921 on a farm near Watson, MN the son of Rudolph and Louise (Lund) Solseth. He attended Dist. 5 Greenbank Country School through the 8th grade and graduated from the Morris Ag School in 1938. He was united in marriage with Charlotte Teigen April 6, 1941 at her parents home in Watson. They lived in Minneapolis one year, employed by Purina Mills, Ernest spent four months on the Alcan Highway and nine months on the Canal Pipeline in Northwest Territory, Canada. He was engaged in farming and crop spraying until 1985 and then worked as a crop insurance adjustor. Ernie served as the Mayor of Watson, Justice of the Peace, was a plumber and a seed corn salesman. He enjoyed rodeo, holidays, watching the news, and politics. He especially enjoyed spending time with family.
He is survived by four daughters: Loretta Yrdanoff of Grand Prairie, TX, Robin Richardson of Montevideo, Lorrie Kittelson of Montevideo, and Lorraine (Danny) Larson of Watson; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; a sister, Viona (Stuba) Christianson of New Ulm, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Charlotte on July 25, 2003; two sons: Roger and Malen; a brother, Raymond; and two sisters: Delores “Tootsie” Good and Evelyn Licine.
