Ernest Tubbs died on February 5, 2004 at the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson at the age of 87.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday, February 9, 2004 at 1:30 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel in Montevideo with Rev. Donald McKee officiating.
Interment was in the Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Ernest Milton Tubbs was born on April 9, 1916 in Rosewood Twp. of Chippewa County, MN to George G. and Hilda (Norman) Tubbs. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Watson, MN, attended rural schools and the Morris School of Agriculture. He served in the US Army during WW II, serving in the European Theater and receiving the Purple Heart. He farmed for many years 12 miles west of Dawson, lived in Montevideo for several years and has been a resident of the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson since 1990. He had been a member of Garfield Lutheran Church for many years, was currently a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo and was a member of VFW Post #380 of Montevideo. He enjoyed his farm life, especially raising cattle and pigs. He enjoyed playing checkers, cards, watching television and reading.
He is survived by one brother, Dennis Tubbs of Turlock, CA; two sisters: Meg Lundin of Minneapolis, MN and Sylvia Lanning of Council Bluffs, IA; one sister-in-law, Lorraine Tubbs of Montevideo; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers: G. Dwight and Kenneth Tubbs and Gregor Tubbs in infancy; and one sister, Nellie Block.
