Ernie Kittelson, 90, of Montevideo and formerly of Big Bend died December 6, 1993 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 9, 1993 at 1:30 P.M. at Big Bend Lutheran Church. Rev. Kathryn Rothman will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and at the church for one hour before services. There will be a prayer service Monday evening at 6:45 P.M. at the funeral home.
Ernie Kittelson was born February 4, 1903 in Swift County the son of Kittel and Hilda (Halvorson) Kittelson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith. His early youth was spent in North Dakota on a farm homesteaded by his father. After the death of his mother, he was raised by his maternal grandmother, Anne Halvorson, in the Milan area. Ernie married Elenora Christenson October 9, 1924 at Our Saviors Lutheran Parsonage in Montevideo. He worked for a time on the railroad before they made their home in Big Bend, where he worked as a self employed trucker. Ernie later worked for the Chippewa County Highway Department. Elenora died November 29, 1983. Ernie moved to Luther Haven Nursing Home in March of 1991.
He is survived by his son Lamore and his wife Pauline of Montevideo; four grandchildren: Lance and his wife Sandra of Shickshinny, PA, Reid and his wife Debra of Lincoln, NB, Grant of Eden Prairie, MN, and Paula of Eagen, MN; and four great-grandchildren: Jessica, Amanda, Saul, and Garrett.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Elenora; a granddaughter, Lynn in 1951; a grandson, Juel in 1985; four brothers: Harry in infancy, Ervin, Fred, and Willie; and one sister, Tilla Angrimson.
