Ervin Edward Eichhorst

Montevideo

Ervin Eichhorst, of Montevideo, died on Monday, February 26, 2001 at Brookside Manor in Montevideo at the age of 84.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, March 2, 2001at 1:30 PM  at Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Watson, MN with Rev. Larry Olson officiating.  Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.

Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Ervin Edward Eichhorst was born on April 16, 1916 in Downers Grove, IL to Louis G. and Mary (Hogrefe) Eichhorst.  He was baptized at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Love, IL and confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  He graduated from Montevideo High School and served in the US Army during WWII.  He was united in marriage to Nora Gilsrud on April 7, 1943 in Montevideo. He farmed in the Montevideo area for many years before retiring.  He was a long time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and served as Treasurer and an usher.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and being with his family, especially grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Nora; two sons: James Eichhorst and his wife Bonnie and Raleigh Eichhorst and special friend Mary Nieland all of Montevideo, MN; grandchildren: Chad Eichhorst and his wife Missy and Shelly (Eichhorst) Bednar and her husband Bill, all of Montevideo; great-grandchildren: Matthew and Zachary Eichhorst and Joseph, Jacob and Sydney Bednar; one brother, Louis Eichhorst and his wife Marion of Spicer, MN; one sister, Alice Lanes and her husband Art of Montevideo; three brothers-in-law: Wilmer “Buck” Jenneke, Leonard Swenson and Melvin Olson of Montevideo; three sisters-in-law: Francis Gilsrud and Evelyn Gilsrud of Montevideo and Millie Stenson of Blue Earth, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Elsie Jenneke and Louise Swenson; and by two brothers in infancy.
