Erwin Winter, of Montevideo, formerly of Maynard passed away Monday, May 6, 2024 at the Minnesota Veterans Home Montevideo at the age of 95.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Maynard Lutheran Church with burial in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Clara City.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service at 6:30 PM. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Erwin Frederich Winter was born August 18, 1928 in Boyden, IA to Heinrich and Anna (Kruse) Winter. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Boyden. Erwin enlisted into the United States Army in 1951 and was stationed in Germany and was honorably discharged in 1953. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Drawert on October 6, 1951 in Chicago, IL. They made their home in Boyden, IA, before moving to rural Maynard in 1960, and to this union three sons were born. After Lorraine’s passing in 1994, Erwin was united in marriage to Carol Hinderks on December 20, 2003 at Maynard Lutheran Church.
Erwin was a member of Heritage Hill, Minnesota Flying Farmers, Maynard Lions Club and the Maynard and Montevideo American Legion. He enjoyed working with his hands and was a talented craftsman. Erwin spent time making multiple pieces of furniture and numerous gifts, many of which were made with wood or metal. He was a true handyman who was always looking for things to fix or make easier to use for tasks around the farm.
Erwin is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, Garret (Sue) of Montevideo, Daniel (Heidi) of Glenwood and Timothy (Kellie) of Kelley, IA; 5 grandchildren; Erich (Jayme) Winter of Montevideo, Ross (Mistie) Winter of Montevideo, Katie (Will) Krumwiede of West Fargo, ND, Jacob and Annie Winter of Kelley, IA 5 great-grandchildren, Jonah and Caleb Winter of Montevideo, Ellie, Wim, and Andi Krumwiede of West Fargo, ND; stepson, Chuck (Beci) Hinderks; stepdaughter, Jayne Franklin; brother, Elmer Winter; and numerous extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Lorraine; and siblings, Alfred, Viola, Leora, Leonard, and Lucinda and stepdaughter Mollie Jaenisch.
