Esther Hanson, of Montevideo, died on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital in Montevideo, MN at the age of 80. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, June 14, 2013 at 1:30 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Chris Zuraff officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 P.M. at the Anderson -TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Esther Ellen (Jensen) Hanson was born on July 10, 1932 in Estherville, IA to George and Clara (Thompson) Jensen. When she was nine, she moved with her family to a farm east of Clarkfield, MN. She completed her childhood there and attended Clarkfield Public Schools. On November 8, 1952 she was united in marriage to Curtis Hanson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo. She lived all her married life in Montevideo and worked as a nurse’s assistant for a number of years at the Montevideo Hospital and Luther Haven Nursing Home. She was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church and was in a bowling league for many years. She enjoyed bowling, doing macrame and ceramics, and spending time at their lake home. Her special joy was her family and keeping up on their activities.
She is survived by her husband, Curtis; four children: Rita (and Charles) Petrie of Mankato, MN; Bruce (and Bonnie) Hanson of Montevideo; Michael (and Christine) Hanson of Golden Valley, MN and Patti (and Bob) Schmit of Montevideo; six grandchildren: Brian Hanson; Travis Hanson and his special friend Ashley and her son Logan; Daniel Lee and special friend Shawna; John Schmit and fiancé Ariel; George Hanson; Elliot Hanson; a great grandchild, Cash Lee; five step grandchildren: Jay, Bradley and Patrice Petrie, Joanna Schmit, and Kristina (Brett) Lindemann; four step great-grandchildren: Kyle and Kayla Jobe , Jacob and Lukas Lindemann ; a sister, Erma Olson of Everett, WA; a brother, Alfred (and Donna) Jensen of International Falls, MN as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Thelma Kluckman; three brothers: Virgil, Frederick and Fayette Jensen and a niece, Kay Dack.
