Esther Hofstad, of Milan, died on Tuesday, September 19, 2006 at the Appleton Nursing Home at the age of 83.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, September 21, 2006 at 11:00 AM at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with Rev Tom Opoien officiating. Burial will be at the Kviteseid Lutheran - Milan Methodist Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Wednesday with family present from 5- 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Esther Margaret (Aadland) Hofstad was born on July 30, 1923 in Minneapolis, MN the daughter of Anders and Dagny (Rettedal) Aadland. She graduated from Edison High School in Minneapolis in 1941 and received a teaching degree from Augsburg College in 1945. On August 4, 1946, she was united in marriage with Herman Hofstad at Minneapolis, MN. Esther taught school in Belgrade, Kensington, Odessa and Milan. They moved to Milan in 1966. She loved the high school students that she taught and was deeply involved with them. She was interested in her church, literature, and watching tennis on television. Esther was proud of her Norwegian heritage and she especially loved her children.
She is survived by husband, Herman; three children: Dawn Strommen and her husband Tim of Anoka, MN, Mark Hofstad and his wife Carol of Lakeland, FL, and Sandra Mullooly and her husband J.P. of Wauwatosa, WI; seven grandchildren: Alexi (Jason) Strommen Noeldner, SiriAnna (Jon) Strommen Campbell, Micah Natterstad, Erika Natterstad, Samuel Strommen, Ian Mullooly, and Ethan Hofstad; two great grandchildren: Linnea Noeldner and Theodore Strommen Campbell; four siblings: Arthur Aadland of Westbrook, MN, Sigfrid Lybeck of Hayward, WI, Dorothy Mortenson of Englewood, FL and Bud (Barbara) Addland of Ft. Meyers, FL; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
