Ethel Lukken, of Montevideo, died on Monday, December 22, 2014 at the Chippewa Co-Montevideo Hospital at the age of 93.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, December 26, 2014 at 1:30 P.M. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald S. McKee officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be one hour prior to services.
Ethel MarDelle (Miller) Lukken was born on April 19, 1921 in Tunsberg Township,Chippewa County, MN to Henry and Sadie (Olson) Miller. She was baptized on September 11, 1921 at the Watson Lutheran Church and confirmed on June 15, 1934 at Zion Lutheran Church near Watson. In 1938 she graduated from Montevideo High School with scholastic honors. Following graduation she was employed at First National Bank in Montevideo for twelve years and the Watson State Bank for two years. She ended her thirty-seven year business career in 1976 as bookkeeper for Montevideo Independent School District 129 for twenty-three years. On October 19, 1952, she was united in marriage to Maurice Flaa, who died on July 21, 1964. On December 20, 1969, she was united in marriage to Henry Lukken, who died on February 19, 1990. She will be remembered for her volunteer activities in various church women offices in local, conference and district levels. She was also active in the Chippewa County-Montevideo Hospital Auxiliary, Montevideo Hospice, Chippewa Co. Historical Society and the Zion Restoration Society of rural Watson. She enjoyed doing needlecraft, quilting, gardening and outdoor landscaping and traveling, including to all continental states and twice to Norway.
She is survived by cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands and by a brother Milton.
