Eugene Molden, of the Big Bend/Hagen area, died on Wednesday, June 30, 2004 at the Meadow Lane Health Care Center in Benson at the age of 82.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, July 5, 2004 at 10:30 AM at Big Bend Lutheran Church with Rev. David DeMars officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening and with the family from 5 - 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Eugene Gilbert Molden was born on September 21, 1921 in Richmound, Saskatchewan, Canada to Gilbert and Mable (Nordby) Molden. He was baptized, confirmed and attended school in Richmound, Saskatchewan. In 1959 he moved to the United States and settled in the Big Bend area. On July 21, 1961 he was united in marriage to Alice Marie (Hoaas) Friedrich at the Big Bend Lutheran Church. He farmed for a few years, drove a bulk oil truck for Cenex of Appleton and Midland State of Milan and ran the Hagen Store with his wife for many years before retiring. He also served as the custodian of the Big Bend Lutheran Church for many years and took care of the mowing of the church and cemetery property. He was currently a resident of Meadow Lane Nursing Home in Benson. He was a member of Big Bend Lutheran Church, the Sons of Norway and enjoyed farming, playing cards, dancing, music, reading, flowers and listening to Twins games.
He is survived by one daughter, Kylene Marie Ahrndt and her husband Larry of Benson, MN; two grandchildren: Trevor Ahrndt and his wife Jean of Vernon Center, MN and Anthony Ahrndt and his wife Amanda of Sartell, MN; four great-grandchildren: Brianna, Dylan, Riley and Alissa Ahrndt; a sister, Myrtle Porter of Olds, Alberta, Canada; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Alice in 1998; and a sister, Alice Maldonar.
