Eunice Johnson, of Dawson, died Thursday, March 17, 2011, at the Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson, at the age of 90. Visitation: will be held Monday, March 21, from 5-7 PM with a prayer service at 6:30PM at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson. Funeral service: Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at 10:30 AM at the Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church with Pastor Charles Beronius officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Eunice Harriet Johnson was born December 2, 1920, in Dawson, the daughter of Joseph and Juella (Winge) Boraas. She was baptized and later confirmed at the Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church in rural Dawson. She graduated from Dawson High School and attained a Bachelor of Science Degree in elementary education from St. Cloud State. She taught in country school and in the Boyd Elementary School. She was united in marriage with Melvern Johnson on June 30, 1945, at the Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church. To this union, Mark and Carol were born. They lived on their farm in Lac Qui Parle County until 1983, when they built a home in Dawson. After Melvern died on June 24, 2005, she remained in their home until she moved to Heritage Square Apartments, then to Prairie Meadows Assisted Living. March 3rd of this year she moved to the Johnson Memorial Care Center where she died on Thursday morning, March 17, at the age of 90 years, 3 months and 15 days. Eunice loved her family and enjoyed hardanger, quilting, quilting club, ceramics and square dancing. She was active in Lac Qui Parle Lutheran Church WELCA and Bible studies. She is survived by her two children: Mark (Jo) Johnson, of Duluth, MN, and Carol Johnson Bruns, of Perham, MN; 4 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren: Kristoffer (Erin Houlihan) Johnson and their children, Maia and Apple Houlihan-Johnson of East Troy, WI; Britt Johnson and her children, Grace, Charlotte & Sam Peyer of Duluth, MN; Jessica (Ryan) Keddy and their children Julia, Rebecca, Matthew, Andrew and Alexander Keddy of Beach Park, IL; and Jason Bruns of Sebeka, MN; brother, Sherman (Marilyn) Boraas of Montevideo; other family and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Melvern; and sister, Audrey Rice. Blessed be her memory.
