Ladena Olson, formerly of Montevideo and Watson, died on Friday, April 19, 2002 in Wilmington, IL at the age of 95.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 24, 2002 at 2:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Eva Ladena (Smith) Olson was born on May 12, 1906 in Greenfield, IL to John and Sarah (Volz) Smith. She was united in marriage to Vivian E. Olson on January 1, 1925 in Montevideo, MN. They moved to Illinois, where they resided for 40 years prior to moving back to Montevideo. After living in Montevideo for a number of years, she moved back to Illinois following her husband’s death in 1988. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Wilmington and enjoyed playing cards, crocheting, reading westerns and mysteries and watching television. She was currently a resident of the Embassy Care Center in Wilmington.
She is survived by a son, Kenneth Olson and his wife Doris of Wilmington, IL; eight grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; a brother, Wesley Smith and his wife Sarah of San Antonio, TX; and two sisters, Theda Curran of Rocklin, CA and Marjean Stueve of MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Vivian in 1988, and by two daughters, Helen Gill and Virginia Dunbar.
