Evangeline Delores (Lund) Bornus

Evangeline Bornus, formerly of the Montevideo area, died on Thursday, February 7, 2002 at the Crystal Care Center in Crystal, MN at the age of 75.  Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, February 9, 2002 at 10:30 AM at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter with Rev. Steve Rheingans officiating.  Burial was in the church cemetery.
Evangeline Delores (Lund) Bornus was born on March 14, 1926 in Riverside Township of rural Dawson, MN to Omar and Selma (Swenson) Lund.  When she was 4 years old, her father died and her mother later married George Beckman.  She grew up in the Montevideo and Dawson, MN areas.  On February 22, 1947 she was united in marriage to Clarence Bornus at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. They resided in Montevideo, later moving to a farm in Baxter Township, seven miles west of Montevideo.  They lived there until Clarence was recalled to active duty in the Air Force.  The Air Force took them to residency South Dakota, Texas,  Maine and North Dakota before Clarence retired from Grand Forks Air Force Base in  1970.  After two years in Minneapolis, they moved back to their farm in 1972 and built a new home.  Following Clarence’s death in 1993, she moved to Fargo, ND and in 1995  moved to Kansas City, MO.  In 1997 she moved to the Twin Cities and has been a resident of the Crystal Care Center since June of 2001.  She was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter and was active as a  Boy Scout parent.  She enjoyed ceramics, quilting, crafts, crocheting  afghans, baking, cooking and canning.
She is survived by children: Michael Bornus and his wife Paula of Riverside, MO; Susan Bornus and her husband George Paquin of Coon Rapids, MN; Steven Bornus and his wife Sonja of Shoreview, MN; David Bornus and his wife Kirsten of Shoreview, MN; and Doreen Bornus of Kansas City, MO; and 7 grandchildren: Kristin Bornus; Erinn Bornus; Kathryn Bornus; Rebecca Bornus; Leah Paquin; Sarah Paquin; and Kristine Bornus..
She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father and by her husband Clarence.
