Evelyn Hoff, formerly of Milan, died on Thursday, April 2, 2009 at the Clara City Care Center at the age of 98. Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, April 5, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. at the Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with Rev. Tom Opoien officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Evelyn Bertina (Grove) Hoff was born on December 16, 1910 in Wang Township of Chippewa Co., MN to Henry and Anne (Huseby) Grove. She was baptized at her parent's home and confirmed at Wang Lutheran Church. She attended rural school in District #14. On September 5, 1929 she was united in marriage to Clarence Hoff in Granite Falls, MN. They lived in Maynard and Sacred Heart before moving to Milan in 1940. She lived in Milan until moving to Clara City in 1998 and was currently a resident of the Clara City Care Center. She was a member of Kviteseid Lutheran Church and took part in Bible Studies and quilting for LWR. She was a member of the Jolly Jabbers in Milan and helped cook and operate the family restaurant. She loved to cook and sew, knit and play whist. She is survived by a daughter, Lynette Rens and her husband Cory of Maynard, MN; and a son, Charles Hoff and his wife Kathy of Prior Lake, MN; a son-in-law, Harvey Schuman of Oakes, ND; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a sister, Bertha Schulte of Williston, ND as well as by a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence in 1985; a daughter, Kathryn Schuman; two grandsons, Ricky and Davin Rens; three sisters: Elsie Mortenson, Luella Powell and Coreen Philcox and three brothers: Martin, Orville and Oliver Grove.
