Evelyn Kibble, of Montevideo, died on Friday, January 6, 2006 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 87.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, January 11, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at First Congregational Church in Montevideo with Rev. Tom Lammers officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Interment will be on Thursday, January 12th at 11:00 A.M. at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton, SD.
Evelyn Elizabeth (Branaugh) Kibble was born June 28, 1918 in Yankton, SD to James and Clara (Engle) Branaugh. She grew up in Yankton and graduated from Yankton High School. Her passion as a youngster and throughout her life was music. She played the violin in the Yankton College Orchestra at the age of twelve and was also an accomplished accordion, organ and piano player. On August 7, 1937, she was united in marriage to Vernon Kibble in Yankton. They moved to the country, where she was a farm wife and raised four sons. She was an active member of the United Church of Christ in Yankton. They retired and moved to Montevideo in 1982 to be closer to family. Evelyn was active in the First Congregational Church in Montevideo, a homemakers club, a flower and garden club and the VFW Auxiliary. She especially enjoyed playing the piano for her family and the residents of Luther Haven Nursing Home.
She is survived by her four sons: James Kibble of Logansport, IN, Ron Kibble and his wife Fran of Mankato, MN; Bill Kibble and his wife Jenny of Montevideo and Roger Kibble of Wakonda, SD; eight grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents: James (Doc) and Clara Branaugh; her husband, Vernon in 1985; one sister; and one brother.
