Evelyn Lende of Dawson died Thursday, April 14, 2011 at the Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson at the age of 95. Funeral service was Saturday, April 16, 2011 at 2:00 PM at the Presbyterian Church with Pastor Herbert Rotunda officiating; scripture lessons were Psalm 23, Isaiah 6:1-8, Matthew 10:37-42 and Luke 1:5-25; and organist, Florence Gebur accompanied the congregation in singing "Amazing Grace", "The Old Rugged Cross" and "How Great Thou Art." Interment will be in the Dawson Cemetery at a later date. Visitation was at the Johnson Memorial Home at 10-11 AM on Saturday with a prayer service at 10:30 and also at the church for one hour before services. Evelyn Alma (Olson) Lende was born October 30, 1915 at Sacred Heart, MN the daughter of Alfred and Ollie (Moen) Olson. She moved as a young girl with her family to a farm north of Graceville, MN. She graduated from the agricultural school in Morris in 1933 and later graduated from a beauty school in Minneapolis. She was united in marriage with Reid Lende August 24, 1940 in Dawson. They made their home in Dawson and Evie had her own beauty shop for many years. Evie was active at the Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school, was a dining room hostess, served on the church council and served as the president and treasurer of the ladies aide. She is survived by two sons: Donald (Janice) Lende of Pelican Rapids, MN and Roy (Lorraine) Lende of Livingston, MT; four grandchildren: Lisa Lende; Stephanie (Bob) Hanson, Brian (Bobbi Jo) Lende, Reid (Kate) Lende; nine great-grandchildren: Anna, Ashley, Amanda, Tyler, Whitney, Kadin, Kain, Breanna, and Brittney; a sister-in-law, Verna Olson of Wheaton, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Preceding her in death were her parents; a daughter-in-law, JoAnne; two sisters in infancy; and two brothers: Marvin (Arleta) Olson and Alvin Olson.
