Evelyn Shoultz, of Montevideo, died on Monday, January 10, 2000 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 88.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, January 13, 2000 at 1:30 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Douglas Olson and Rev. Lois Knutson officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and for one hour prior to services at the church.
Evelyn Viola (Graves) Shoultz was born on June 22, 1911 in Montevideo to Thor and Alice (Sederstrom) Graves. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo. She graduated from Montevideo High School in 1929 and completed her degree in elementary education at Moorhead State Teachers College. She taught second grade in Clarkfield, MN for 38 years. She loved children, teaching and was an active member of the school system. On June 14, 1969 she was united in marriage to Ludwig Shoultz at Our Savior's Lutheran in Montevideo. Music was a big love of her life. She sang in school, college and church groups, including Our Savior's Lutheran Women’s choir, which she retired from this year. She was involved with the Community Concert Series and enjoyed operas, orchestras and vocal concerts. She enjoyed baking cookies, cakes and social outings. She was a life long member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and was a member of its women’s groups and circles, sang in the ladies choir and did solo work.
She is survived by her husband, Lud; one sister, Alice Held and her husband Shirley of Worthington, MN; one sister-in-law, Sylvia Graves of Montevideo, MN; one nephew, Stephen Held of Worthington, MN; two nieces: Kathy Graves Hoff and her husband Chuck of Prior Lake, MN and their children, Lisa Hoff and Amy Hoff of St. Louis Park, MN and Pam Held Mork and her husband Paul of Bemidji, MN and their children, Erika and Karl; as well as by many cousins, special friends and former students.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Vernon Graves; and one sister, Mildred Shoultz.
