Faye "Josie" (Saulsbury) Schmidtke

March 11, 1946 — December 24, 1992

Faye "Josie" Schmidtke, 46, of Montevideo died December 24, 1992 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital.

Funeral services will be held on 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, December 29, 1992 at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  Rev. Richard Hamlow will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Monday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and at the church for one hour before services on Tuesday.  There will be a prayer service Monday evening at 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Faye Delight Saulsbury was born March 11, 1946 at Appleton, MN the daughter of Herb and Helen (Guse) Saulsbury.  Faye was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church in Correll, MN and was confirmed at St. Marks Lutheran Church in Benson, MN.  She attended school in Benson and graduated from Benson High School in 1964.  She was united in marriage with Kenneth Schmidtke on March 20, 1964 at St. Marks Lutheran Church in Benson.  They made their home in Sparta Township, Chippewa County, MN.  She worked at the Holiday Store in Montevideo in the late 60's.  The family adopted Wendy Jo on July 16, 1970.  Faye was active in her church where she taught Sunday School, made many quilts, and served on a district youth board.  She enjoyed doing crafts and had the Sisters 'N' Such craft sales in Benson a couple of times a year for the past few years with her sisters.

She is survived by her husband, Kenneth; one daughter Wendy Jo Schmidtke of Hopkins, MN; her parents, Herb and Helen Saulsbury of Benson, MN; three sisters: Darlene Wilts and her husband Chuck, Sharon Sanders and her husband Leroy, and Lyn Hofland and her husband Rod all of Benson, MN; one brother Harlyn Saulsbury and his wife Sue of Murdock, MN; numerous nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Preceding her in death were her son Kenneth, Jr. on May 29, 1965, one niece, and one nephew.
