Fern (Volden) Streed

Fern Streed, of Montevideo and formerly of Milan, died Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson at the age of 93.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan.  Pastor Kristine Isder will officiate and interment will be in the Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the church.

Fern Marie (Volden) Streed was born December 29, 1927 in Milan, MN the daughter of Henry and Blenda (Broadland) Volden.  She grew up in Milan and graduated from Milan High School in 1945.  Fern was united in marriage with Raymond Streed July 24, 1949 at Kviteseid Lutheran Church.  They made their home in Milan and raised three children: Bruce, Susan and Paul.  She was very active at her church teaching Wednesday and Sunday School and the Bethel Bible Series.  She was also a member of the WELCA at church.  Fern loved quilting and was a member of the sewing club.  Ray died August 25, 2018 and Fern moved to Brookside Manor in Montevideo.

She is survived by three children Bruce (Connie) Streed, Milan, MN, Susan (John) Vetter, Milan, MN,  Paul (Barbara) Streed, Faribault, MN; eight grandchildren: David Streed, Montgomery, MN, Sarah (Peter) Kroells, Norwood Young America, MN, Laura (Dustin) Schroeder, Willmar, MN, Amy (Mike) Richter, Granite Falls, MN, Joshua (Sara) Vetter, Milan, MN,  Allyson (Tim) Bowman, Rochester, MN, Amanda (Spencer) Schoeneman, Eagan, MN, Christopher (Katie) Streed, Brooklyn Park, MN; nine great-grandchildren: Chase, Cole, Zoe, Makenna, Paige, Jade, Zane, Kalias, and Winry; brother-in-law: Ralph Haugen as well as other extended family and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Raymond; sisters: Adelaide (James) Blunck and Borghild (Glen) Hein sisters-in-law: Florence Streed and Hazel Haugen; brother-in-law, Ernest (Arlene) Streed; nephews: Greg Streed and Darrell Streed; and niece, Judy Johnson.
