Fern Mildred (Schaller) Sulflow

Fern Sulflow, of Clara City, died on Tuesday, March 8, 2005 at the Clara City Care center at the age of 88.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, March 11, 2005 at 11:00 AM at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara City.  Rev. Bob Berthold and Rev. Dave Webster will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 8 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Fern Mildred (Schaller) Sulflow was born on November 8, 1916 in Montevideo, MN to Henry and Amima (Van Berguen) Schaller.  She was baptized and confirmed in Maynard.  She attended country school in rural Maynard. On March 1, 1936 she was united in marriage to Harold Sulflow at her farm place.  She has been a resident of the Clara City Care Center for the past 5 years. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and active in its Ladies Aid.  Fern enjoyed doing latch hook and embroidering.  She also loved gardening, cooking, and her flower garden.  Fern enjoyed spending time with family; especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn “Jill” Darrington of Montevideo; two daughters-in-law: Nola Sulflow of Clara City, MN and Darlene Sulflow of Montevideo, MN; eight grandchildren: Beverly (Bill) Olson, Gary Ostendorf, Sue (Bob) Stevens, Kristi (fiancé Brad Runyon) Refsland, Angie (Dale) Thompson, Brenda (Randy) Rethlake, Byron (Pam) Sulflow, and Steven Sulflow; and fifteen great-grandchildren: Derek, Danielle, Ryan, Trista, Gena, Luke, Leah, Cameron, Adam, Tanner, Jerod, Jordan, Tyler, Hillary, and Brandon.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold January 13, 1979; two sons: Jack Sulflow November 1, 1982 and Mark Sulflow June 9, 2001; two brothers: Charles Schaller and Raymond Schaller; and two sisters: Florence Zrumbrook and Emma Theilen.
