Florence Brophy, formerly of Montevideo, died on Friday May 11 at the Renville Co. Hospital in Olivia,Mn. at the age of 78. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday May 17 at 1:30 P.M. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Lloyd Tobiassen officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo. Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and at the church 1 hour prior to services.
Florence Brophy was born on October 23, 1915 on the family farm in Tunsberg Township of Chippewa Co., Minnesota to Frank and Selma Brophy. She attended rural schools and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1934. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. She lived on the family farm for many years until moving to the Cosmos Health Care Center in Cosmos, Mn. about eight years ago. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo and enjoyed gardening, sewing, embroidery and reading.
She is survived by a brother - Milton Brophy of Minneapolis; and by nieces and nephews - Alice Bowen of Lincoln,Nb.; Gaylon Entgelmeier of Inver Grove Heights, Mn.; Kathy Brandsted on Montevideo, Mn.; William Brophy of Montevideo,Mn. and Glennda Edwards of Appleton, Wi.
She was preceded in death by her parents; by brothers - Lawrence and Orville Brophy; and by a sister - Nancy Entgelmeier.
