Florence Erickson, of Montevideo, died Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 82.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald S. McKee officiating. Interment will be at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.
Florence Ardell (Strand) Erickson was born May 21, 1934 in Montevideo, MN to Christian and Hilda (Lyngen) Strand. She was baptized on October 3, 1935 at Salem Lutheran Church and confirmed on Pentecost Sunday, May 16, 1948 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Florence attended school in Montevideo. On December 23, 1954, Florence was united in marriage to Algean Clifton Erickson at Our Saviors Lutheran Church.
Florence was a very hard worker and worked outside of her home for most of her life. She was employed at Berg’s Sanitary Cleaners, Valet Cleaners, Southtown Cleaners, Granite Cleaners, and also did housekeeping. She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Florence and Algean usually had pets and Florence loved her animals, especially Suzie and Libby.
Florence had a way of making people feel welcome whether it was in her home or when she was serving as a hostess at church. She always made sure there was something to offer her guests such as lunch or a snack. She also loved going places and loved when she could go with Algean to have coffee and visit with people. When Algean was no longer able to take her, Florence would go with other family members to coffee time or her appointments. Algean and Florence also took many trips out west to Washington to visit with family and friends. Many trips were by train and a few by car too.
Florence is survived by her sister, Janet Eisenlohr; her brother, Donald Strand; sister-in-law, Kathleen Strand; brothers-in-law, Maurice (Audrey) Erickson and Glenn (friend, Sharon) Erickson; special niece, Diane Anderson; nieces; nephews; cousins in Norway; and other extended family and friends.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Algean; sister, Ethel Eisenlohr; brothers, Howard, Kenneth, and Gordon Strand; brothers-in-law, Herbert Eisenlohr and Harold Eisenlor; nephews, Derald and Kyle Eisenlohr; and niece, Diane Strand.
