Florence Gulden

Florence Gulden, of Montevideo, died on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 100. Mass of Christian Burial will be conducted on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. at St. Josephs Catholic Church in Montevideo with Fr. Jim Devorak the celebrant. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 PM and with a prayer vigil service at 6:30 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Florence Agnes (Schall) Gulden was born on June 13, 1907 in Chippewa County, MN to John and Augusta (Stromenger) Schall. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Josephs Catholic Church and attended schools in Montevideo. On October 25, 1924, she was united in marriage to Lloyd T. Gulden, Sr. at St. Josephs. She worked for a number of years as a cook at several restaurants in Montevideo and Brookside Manor before retiring. She was a life-long member of St. Josephs and was active in church activities. She enjoyed reading, crocheting and traveling to visit her children. Her family was especially important to her. She has been a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home since 2004. She is survived by three daughters: Lorraine Christenson and Glorietta Gilbertson of Montevideo and Patricia Jones and her husband Jerry of Goleta, CA; two sons: Lloyd Gulden, Jr. of Montevideo and Paul Gulden and his wife Joy of Ventura, CA; 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren and 22 great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Mary Schall of Montevideo; and a brother-in-law, Jack Foshee of Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd in 1962; two grandsons: Gary Gilbertson and Paul Christenson; one great-grandson, Steven Gulden; two sons-in-law: Galen Christenson and Harris Gilbertson; a daughter-in-law, Vivian Gulden; three brothers: Clarence, Arthur and Earl Schall; sister, Hazel Foushee; and two sisters-in-law: Connie and Doris Schall.
