Florence Hamre, of Montevideo, died Tuesday, February 28, 2006 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 98.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2006 at 1:30 P.M. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Rev. David Baumgarn will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Friday, afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with the family present from 5-7:00 P.M.
Florence Leona (Perske) Hamre was born June 1, 1907 in Lac qui Parle County, MN the daughter of Frederick and Minnie (Zemple) Perske. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. She was united in marriage with Oliver Hamre at St. Paul’s Lutheran Parsonage in Montevideo. They made their home in the rural area before moving into Montevideo in 1970 and later to Parkview Towers. She sang with a group at Parkview Towers and loved playing cards with family and friends. Florence enjoyed making lefse, embroidering dish towels, and scrapbooking. She loved having her grandchildren and great-grandchildren visit.
She is survived by three children: Florine Hamre of Bloomington, MN, Odell Hamre of Montevideo, and Roger Hamre and his wife Becky of Granite Falls, MN; her good friend, Wendy Mercer Hamre of Montevideo; six grandchildren: Jason, Ryan and Tim Hamre, Rochelle (Tom) Hamre Ladwig, Renae Hamre, and Richard Hamre; five great-grandchildren: Taylor, Kaitlyn, Autumn, and Devin Ladwig and Austin Seubert; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Oliver in 1984; one brother, Albert Perske; and two sisters: Eleanor Anderson and Viola Enevoldsen.
