Frances Aamot, of Willmar and formerly of Montevideo, died on Saturday, January 9, 1999 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar at the age of 86.
Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday, January 12, 1999 at 10:30 AM at Watson Lutheran Church in Watson with Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Burial was in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery.
Frances Lyla Aamot was born on March 14, 1912 in rural Watson, MN to John and Bertha (Lund) Aamot. She graduated from Milan High School in May of 1930 and from St. Olaf College in 1934. In 1949 she received her Masters Degree from Iowa State University. She taught business education subjects in Alberta, MN, Thief River Falls, MN, St. Peter, MN and Fairmont, MN before her retirement from teaching. Following her retirement she continued to live in Fairmont, where she was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was active in the HOPE organization as well as the Retired Teachers Association. In August of 1995 she moved to Montevideo and joined Watson Lutheran Church. She lived at Brookside Manor and later Luther Haven Nursing Home, and was currently living at the Scandia Lutheran Home in Willmar.
She is survived by two brothers: Paul Aamot and his wife DeElla of Willmar, MN and Phillip Aamot and his wife Gerry of Watson, MN; two sisters-in-law: Grace Aamot of Jackson, MN and Adeline Strand of Milan, MN; as well as by 19 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Clifford and Verdie Aamot; two sisters: Phemie and Lyla; and one niece, Kathryn.
