Frances Docken, formerly of Maynard, died on Tuesday, January 17, 2006 at the Clara City Care center at the age of 92.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 21, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at the Maynard Lutheran Church with Rev. Mary Leigh Boyd Hovland officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening and with the family present from 5 - 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Frances Evelyn (Marholz) Docken was born on December 25, 1913 in Crate Township of Chippewa County, MN to George and Mary (Martin) Marholz. She grew up in rural Maynard, MN and graduated from Maynard High School in 1932. On November 23, 1932 she was united in marriage to Harry Docken in Montevideo, MN. They lived in Maynard until moving to Clara City in 2001. She has been a resident of the Clara City Care Center for the past couple of years. She was a charter member of Maynard TOPS, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the Buzz’n Dozen Homemakers club. She was a member of Maynard Lutheran Church, where she was active in Altar Guild, circle and women’s group activities. She enjoyed sewing, making dolls, upholstering, raising flowers and collecting glass shoes.
She is survived by her husband, Harry of Clara City; five children: Gordon Docken and his wife Millie of Rosemount, MN, Douglas Docken and his wife Judy of Waconia, MN, Mary Jo Prekker and her husband David of Clara City, MN, Lyle Docken and his wife Linda of Maynard, MN and Mark Docken and his wife Jane of Clara City, MN; 24 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a sister, Shirley Miars of Mesquite, NV.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Dennis; a grandson, Glen Docken; and a great-granddaughter, Mallory Prekker.
