Frances Strand, of Montevideo, died on Friday October 28, 1994 at the Christian Care Center in Willmar, Mn. at the age of 81. Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday November 1, 1994 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev Douglas Olson and Rev. Warren Broughton officiating. Interment will be in the Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Frances (Rasmussen) Strand was born on March 4, 1913 in Chippewa Co., Minnesota to George and Mary Rasmussen. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo amd attended rural schools. She was united in marriage to Theodore Tomes, Sr. and was later united in marriage to Howard Strand on February 14, 1953. They ran the F & H Bakery in Montevideo until 1960, when they moved to Graceville, Mn. and ran a bakery there for 5 years. They returned to Montevideo and ran a bakery until moving to Marshall. She later returned to Montevideo and lived there until entering the Christian Nursing Center in Willmar, Mn. this past June. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo.
She is survived by daughters - Joan and her husband Rod Johnson of Montevideo and Ardell Hill of Veblen., SD; by a son - Ted and his wife LaVonne Tomes of Montevideo; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; by sisters - Mabel Baker of St. Paul, Mn. and Irene Marholz of Casper, Wy.; and by brothers - Clifford Rasmussen of Hutchinson,Mn. and Lloyd Rassmussen of Granite Falls, Mn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Howard in 1978, as well as by 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
