Francis Maus, of Montevideo, died on Monday, April 28, 2014 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 70. Memorial Services will be conducted on Friday, May 2, 2014 at 1:30 P.M. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald S. McKee officiating. Interment will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Thursday from 5 - 7 P.M. and with a prayer service at 6:30 P.M. at the Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Francis Carl Maus was born on February 20, 1944 in Havelock Township of Chippewa Co., MN to Carl and Agnes (Reiners) Maus. He was baptized in 1944 and confirmed in 1959 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Clara Cty, MN. In 1961 he graduated from Maynard High School. On June 27, 1964 he was united in marriage to Sheryl Cushman at the Watson Lutheran Church. Francis served in the US Air Force, serving in Thailand. He lived in Duluth and Watson before moving to Montevideo in 1965. He worked for Molde Electric, Bowman Electric and for Locals # 343 in Le Sueur and 292 in Minneapolis before retiring in 2006. He was a member of the American Legion, Deer Hunters Association, the Tri-County Sportsman’s Club and a life member of the VFW. He loved to fish, hunt, garden, farm, and do woodworking. He also enjoyed football, baseball, country music and was a great joke teller. His family was extremely important to him.
He is survived by his wife, Sheryl, three children: Michelle (and Jon) Mills of Sartell, MN; Steven Maus and Julie Maus, both of Montevideo; two grandchildren: Jonathon and Samantha Mills of Sartell; two sisters: Fern Stegeman of Raymond, MN and Vida LaBatte of Granite Falls, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and by two sisters, Carol Maus in 2011 and Doris Abel in 2004.
