Frank Aabye

Frank Aabye died Sunday, March 5, 2023 at Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson, MN at the age of 81.

Private memorial services will be held at a later date.

Frank was born February 8, 1942 in Fargo, ND the son of John and Doris (Endstrom) Aabye.  He met Shari Mattson at a dance in Fargo when they were teenagers.  They fell in love and married on June 10, 1961.  together they have three daughters and four grandchildren.  Frank was a loving father and proud grandfather.  For 61 years, Frank and Shari were inseparable.  Frank retired as Postmaster in Perham, MN at the age of 50.  in retirement, he and Shari traveled to all fifty states, built and remodeled homes in several cities, the last being Astoria Station on the Lac qui Parle River.  Frank loved tending to his yard and flowers, was a member of many clubs and community activities.  He was a faithful member of the lions, a proud Democrat and found great joy working with children in his role as a paraprofessional at Stevens Elementary Public School.  He was honored for 15 years of service there in May of 2021.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Shari; daughters: Katherine of Alexandria, Elizabeth of Sioux Falls, and Susan of Fargo; three grandsons: Tanner, Robin, and Ricky; and one granddaughter, Zoe; and a sister, Jane (Howard) Wold of Alexandria, LA.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Carl.

In lieu of flowers, cards and donations may be sent to Box 321, Dawson, MN 56232.  Money donated will be given to the elementary school in remembrance of Frank.
